Atrazine is a widely used herbicide belonging to the triazine class of compounds. It is mainly used in agriculture for selective systemic pre-emergence soil treatment and post-emergence stem and leaf treatment to inhibit plant photosynthesis and kill weeds.

Stability

Stable in water with a pH of 5-7. When the pH is lower than 5 or higher than 7, the effect of atrazine will be weakened.

Toxicity

Acute toxicity: oral LD50 for rats is 3000mg/kg, oral LD50 for mice is 1750mg/kg, and dermal LD50 for rabbits is 7500mg/kg.

Storage

Mechanism of action

Application

Atrazine is a systemic selective pre-emergence and post-emergence closed herbicide, which is mainly absorbed by the roots and very little absorbed by the stems and leaves. Its weed killing effect and selectivity are the same as simazine. It is easily washed to the deeper layers of the soil by rainwater. It is also effective for some deep-rooted grasses, but it is easy to cause phytotoxicity. The lasting effect is also longer. It has a wide spectrum of weed control and can prevent and control a variety of annual grass and broad-leaved weeds. It is suitable for dryland crops such as corn, sorghum, sugarcane, fruit trees, nurseries, woodlands, etc. to prevent crabgrass, barnyard grass, foxtail grass, sedge, alopecuroides, Polygonum, Chenopodium, Cruciferae, and Leguminosae weeds. It has good selectivity for corn and has a certain inhibitory effect on some perennial weeds.
