Wheat Rust Control Measures!

There are three main types of wheat rust: wheat stripe rust, wheat leaf rust and wheat stem rust.

(1) Wheat stripe rust mainly occurs on the leaves. Many bright yellow oval spores are also formed on the front of the leaves on the leaf sheaths, stalks and ears. They are arranged longitudinally along the veins in a dotted line, and most of them are combined into sheets.

(2) Leaf rust mainly occurs on leaves and leaf sheaths, and round reddish-brown spores rarely appear on affected leaves on stems and ears. Generally, it grows irregularly and scattered on the front of the leaves, and rarely penetrates the leaves. After the epidermis is broken, it will emit yellow-brown powder.

(3) Stem rust does not occur on leaves, but mainly occurs on leaf sheaths, stalks and bases of leaf sheaths, and when severe, also occurs on glumes and awns of wheat ears, producing many scattered dark reddish-brown, oblong spores.

Symptoms of the three rust diseases on wheat are sometimes confusing. In the field diagnosis, it can be distinguished according to "stripes rust in rows and leaves rust disorderly, and rust is a big red spot".

Prevention and control measures: mainly planting rust-resistant varieties, supplemented by cultivation and chemical control, and implementing comprehensive prevention and control measures of zoned management.

(1) Planting disease-resistant varieties: planting disease-resistant varieties is the most economical and effective measure to control wheat stripe rust.

(2) Cultivation and control: sow seeds at the right time, apply sufficient base fertilizer, and reasonably close planting.

(3) Chemical control: In areas where susceptible varieties are planted, or in the year when the disease is endemic, chemical control is an important auxiliary measure to reduce the disease. Its main purpose is to control the source of autumn seedlings and the epidemic in spring. The main agents used to prevent and control rust are triazoles such as triazoles such as triazole, tebuconazole, propiconazole and Subaoli, and methoxyacrylate fungicides such as azoxystrobin and kresoxstrobin.
