It also shows activity against the eggs and larvae of certain pests.
Thiodicarb acts mainly through stomach toxicity. Pests become poisoned after feeding on treated plant tissues and eventually die. Its contact activity is relatively weak and requires direct contact with the insect body to be effective. It has no systemic activity, but it does exhibit slight fumigant action.
Thiodicarb is widely used on crops such as cotton, maize, soybean, peanut, vegetables (tomato, pepper, cabbage, etc.), fruit trees (apple, pear, citrus, etc.), and tobacco.
In soil, Thiodicarb is mainly degraded through microbial degradation, and the degradation rate is strongly influenced by soil pH, temperature, and moisture.
In neutral or slightly acidic soils, the half-life is approximately 30-60 days. In alkaline soils, hydrolysis occurs faster, and the half-life is shortened to 10-20 days. A higher organic matter content in soil accelerates degradation, making it less likely to cause soil pollution.
