Thiocyclam-Hydrogenoxalate is metabolized into nereistoxin inside insects, which exerts insecticidal activity by disrupting nerve impulse transmission and blocking acetylcholine receptors, resulting in insect poisoning. Its mode of action is different from that of commonly used organophosphorus, organochlorine, and carbamate insecticides, making it particularly suitable for controlling pests that have developed resistance to these conventional insecticides.
After exposure, insects suffer severe paralysis and are rapidly knocked down, followed by feeding cessation and eventual death. Although the actual mortality may occur relatively slowly, poisoned insects stop feeding shortly after treatment and no longer cause crop damage. In cases of mild poisoning, some insects may recover within one day.The insecticidal effect of Thiocyclam-Hydrogenoxalate develops relatively slowly.
