(1) Promote cell elongation and division
Treatment of the second internode of bean seedlings with 10 ng. L-1 of brassinolide can cause the internode to significantly elongate and bend, accelerate cell division, expand the internode, and even crack. This comprehensive growth response is used as a bioassay for brassinolide. BR promotes cell division and elongation because it enhances RNA polymerase activity and promotes the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins; BR1 can also enhance ATPase activity, promote the secretion of H+ from the plasma membrane to the cell wall, and cause cell elongation.
BR can also promote the growth of the whole plant. After treating the second internode of bean seedlings with brassinolide, the internode can grow within a few days; after a few weeks, the growth of the whole plant can be promoted, including plant height, plant weight, pod weight, and number of buds, which are significantly increased compared with the control group.
(2) Promote photosynthesis
BR can promote the activity of RuBP carboxylase in wheat leaves and increase the photosynthetic rate. BR, 9 days after the peanut seedlings were treated, the chlorophyll content was 10%~12% higher than the control, and the photosynthetic rate was accelerated by 15%. The CO2 tracer test showed that BR1 treatment promoted the transport of photosynthetic products in the leaves to the panicle.

Spraying the leaves of apples and walnuts with natural 24-EpiBrassinolide can significantly reduce the transpiration intensity of leaves.
Appropriate concentrations of 24-EpiBrassinolide can promote the growth of callus tissue.
