Flumebifen is a new type of acaricide, which belongs to the trifluoroethyl sulfide class of acaricides. Currently, there are no commercial varieties of this type.
At present, the mechanism of action of flufenacet is not clear, but what is known is that flufenfen is a systemic acaricide that mainly kills by contact and has the following characteristics.
(1) Safe to mammals and non-target organisms. The oral, transdermal and inhalation toxicity of the original drug of Flumefen is low. It is non-irritating to the skin and non-allergenic. It is also low-toxic to fish and daphnia.
(2) Kills all egg mites and is effective on eggs, young nymphs and adult mites. Indoor acaricidal activity research results show that the ovicidal activity of flufenacet is better than that of etazofenil and fenpyrfen. Equivalent to etoxazole. The nymphalicide activity is equivalent to that of etoxazole, but better than that of fenpyrfen, spirofenib, and etoxazole. The activity of killing adult mites is lower than that of ethofenacet, and better than that of spirodiclofen, ethofenazole and fenpyrfen.
(3) It has a positive temperature effect, good leaf penetration activity and transverse conduction activity. Applying pesticides from the front can kill harmful mites on the underside of leaves. Its ability to withstand rain erosion is equivalent to that of acetonitrile. After 6 hours of artificial rainfall (rainfall: 15mm/h), the mortality rate of adult mites reached 80% in 24 hours, the hatching rate of surviving adult mites was 76.47%, and the mortality rate of hatched young mites was 100%.
(4) It has a wide spectrum of action, good quick-acting effect, and long-lasting effect. It can prevent and control many common agricultural pests such as citrus spider mites, apple spider mites, two-spotted spider mites, and cinnabar spider mites. The results of the field efficacy test showed that flufenac has excellent control effect on all citrus claws. It is effective 1 to 3 days after treatment and has a lasting effect of more than 21 days. When controlling citrus spider mites, when the average temperature is 25°C, the peak of dead mites will be reached in 1 to 3 days. It reaches the peak value 7 days after taking the medicine, which can solve the current pain point of preventing and controlling red spider mites. The duration of effect is as long as 20~30 days, which meets the needs of farmers for "long-lasting management". It has a stable control effect against two-spotted spider mites and is better than commonly used pharmaceuticals such as bifenazine.
(5) It has a completely new structure and a unique mechanism of action. It has no cross-resistance with existing acaricides (including acetonitrile) and has excellent performance against harmful mites. Field test results show that flufenacet has good control effect on mite-resistant populations of two-spotted leaves of roses (potted plants and greenhouses), and is significantly better than the comparative chemicals such as bifenexate and abamectin.
(6) It is safe for the main target crops, relatively sensitive to some melon crops, and has phytotoxicity to some rose varieties. In addition, Flumebifen is safe against beneficial organisms such as predatory mites.
The main crops used for acaricides include citrus (60%), apples/pears (16%), solanaceous vegetables (11%), flowers (5%), cotton (4%), strawberry (4%), etc. With the rapid development of the citrus industry, the acaricide market has grown rapidly.

Flumebifen has outstanding advantages and is effective on mite eggs, young nymphs and adult mites. Has excellent foliar penetration activity. It has no cross-resistance with conventional acaricides and has root systemic properties. It is safe for mainstream crop targets such as citrus, apple and cotton, and is not prone to resistance. This product can meet farmers' increasing needs for pest mite control.
