Thiamethoxam is a second-generation neonicotinoid insecticide. Due to its slow onset of action and strong resistance, its control effect is getting worse and worse. Today I would like to introduce to you an excellent insecticide that is more active than thiamethoxam. This agent is clothianidin.

What is clothianidin
Clothianidin is the second generation neonicotinoid insecticide developed after imidacloprid and thiamethoxam. Compared with the first generation, it has a wider insecticidal range, higher activity, better safety, longer duration, and greatly reduced toxicity. It is a new type of pesticide that is efficient, safe and highly selective. It has the advantages of high efficiency, broad spectrum, low dosage, low toxicity, long-lasting effect, no harm to crops, safe use, no cross-resistance with conventional pesticides, etc., and has systemic and penetration effects. It is another alternative to highly toxic organophosphorus pesticides.
Advantages of clothianidin
(1) Wider insecticidal spectrum: Clothianidin has contact killing, stomach poisoning and systemic activities. It is widely used to control underground pests such as garlic maggots, root maggots, onion maggots, ground maggots, cutworms, and wireworms, as well as more than 10 sucking pests such as aphids, thrips, planthoppers, whiteflies, and rice planthoppers.
(2) Long duration of effect: Clothianidin is not easily leached in the soil. This makes clothianidin less likely to decompose underground, has a higher utilization rate, and has a longer duration of effect than thiamethoxam and imidacloprid. According to tests, the effectiveness of foliar spray can reach 30 days, and the effectiveness of soil treatment can reach 6 months.
(3) High activity: Clothianidin is a nicotinic insecticide developed after imidacloprid and thiamethoxam. It mainly acts on acetylcholine receptors in insects, and its affinity and insecticidal activity to insect acetylcholine receptors are higher than those of imidacloprid. It is also more active than thiamethoxam and imidacloprid, and is also effective against chewing pests.
(4) Easy to use: Clothianidin has strong permeability and systemic conductivity, and its main effects are contact killing and stomach poisoning. Not only can it be used for spraying, but it can also be used for various methods such as seed dressing, soil treatment, root irrigation, root dipping, and root soaking. All have very good insecticidal effects.
(5) Good safety: The toxicity of clothianidin to environmental insects is greatly reduced, it is also safer for crops, and it is more reliable to use. Can be used on rice, vegetables, fruit trees and other crops.

Prevention and control scope
Clothianidin can be used on more than 20 crops including rice, wheat, corn, peanuts, Chinese cabbage, cabbage, tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, potatoes, citrus trees, apple trees, pear trees, watermelon, wolfberry, and tea trees. It is widely used to control more than 20 kinds of Coleoptera, Diptera and some Lepidopteran pests such as aphids, leafhoppers, thrips, planthoppers, leafhoppers and other Hemiptera, blind bugs, cabbage caterpillars and so on.

Instructions
(1) Prevent and control sucking pests such as wheat aphids, corn thrips, and rice planthoppers. In the early stages of the occurrence, use 20 to 40 ml of 20% pyridoxime and clothianidin suspension mixed with 30 kg of water and spray evenly to effectively prevent the pests from continuing to cause harm. The validity period is up to 30 days.
(2) Control underground pests such as peanuts, potatoes, garlic maggots, and grubs. Before sowing, 48% clothianidin suspended seed coating agent can be used for seed dressing at a drug-to-seed ratio of 250-500 ml/100 kg of seeds. Wrapping the pesticide evenly on the surface of the seeds can effectively prevent the damage of underground pests such as garlic maggots, grubs, and wireworms. The validity period can reach about 6 months.
(3) Control underground pests such as garlic maggots and leek maggots. In the early stages of larvae emergence, 20% clothianidin suspension 3000 times can be used together with irrigation water to effectively kill underground pests such as garlic maggots and leek maggots, with a lasting effect of more than 60 days.
