Oxathiapiprolin: has specific effects on Oomycete pathogens

Oxathiapiprolin shows excellent control effects against oomycete diseases such as late blight, downy mildew, root rot, stem rot, and blight.

1. Novel mechanism of action

Oxathiapiprolin is an oxysterol-binding protein (OSBP) inhibitor and has a unique action site against Oomycete pathogens. It achieves bactericidal effects by inhibiting oxysterol-binding protein (OSBP). It has the functions of preventing, treating and inhibiting sporulation of pathogenic bacteria, and has excellent bactericidal activity against oomycete diseases on potatoes, grapes, vegetables and other special crops, and its efficacy is stable. It has special effects on downy mildew and late blight, and can effectively prevent and control root rot and stem rot.

This product can be quickly absorbed by the wax layer and has excellent resistance to rainwater erosion; it also has the characteristics of internal absorption and upward conduction to protect new tissue. Both foliar sprays and seed treatments are available. The Fungicide Resistance Action Committee (FRAC) classifies oxathiapiprolin in the U15 group, where it is the only active ingredient in this group and therefore has no cross-resistance with any other fungicides and is suitable for use in integrated pest management (IPM).

2. Prevent and control crops and diseases

This agent is mainly used for high value-added cash crops such as grapes, cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, watermelons, peppers, and cabbage. It can prevent downy mildew, late blight, blight, damping-off, root rot and other diseases. It is especially effective against downy mildew and late blight. It is the best fungicide for controlling oomycete diseases.

3. Main features

Efficient and fast: This agent has ultra-high activity against oomycete diseases such as downy mildew, late blight, and blight. It can quickly kill pathogens at a very low dosage.

Long lasting: This agent has good systemic conductivity. After being absorbed by the crop, it can be quickly transmitted to all parts of the plant and remain in the body for a long time. It has both quick-acting and long-lasting effects. It also has excellent resistance to rainwater erosion and has a lasting effect of more than 10 days. It is the longest-lasting agent for controlling oomycete diseases.

Good systemic conductivity: This agent has good systemic conductivity and can be quickly absorbed by the waxy layer after application. It can be quickly absorbed by the crop and delivered to any part of the plant, achieving the purpose of rapid sterilization and protecting new tissue. Both foliar sprays and seed treatments are available.

Low toxicity and environmental protection: This agent is a slightly toxic fungicide, with a very low dosage and will not have any impact on the environment.

Can be used as a seed treatment agent: In addition to regular spray applications, oxathiapiprolin is also used as a seed treatment. Seeds treated with oOxathiapiprolin have faster germination, more developed root systems, and healthier plants.

However, it should be noted that oxathiapiprolin has a single site of action and has a medium to high level of resistance risk, so resistance management is required. In order to effectively delay the development of drug resistance and extend the life cycle of the agent, oxathiapiprolin can be compounded or used in rotation with fungicides with different mechanisms of action, such as mancozeb, oxathiapiprolin, etc.
