Bifenthrin: Insecticide for controlling aphids, red spiders, and whiteflies

Among the pesticides for controlling various types of pests, pyrethroid pesticides are often recognized by the majority of growers because of their affordable prices and excellent control effects, such as lambda-Cyhalothrin, bifenthrin, deltamethrin, etc. We have previously shared highly effective chlorfenapyr, and today we will continue to share bifenthrin.

1. About bifenthrin

Bifenthrin is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide with the advantages of high pest control effect, wide insecticide range, low residual toxicity, low dosage, and can also control mites.

2. Product features

(1) Broad insecticide spectrum and wide application range. Bifenthrin is effective against a variety of pests such as Lepidoptera, Hemiptera, Coleoptera, and Thysanoptera. It also has a certain control effect on Acarina pests. It can be used in field crops such as wheat, corn, peanuts, soybeans, and rice, fruit tree crops such as citrus, apples, grapes, and bananas, vegetable crops such as cabbage, green onions, tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants, cash crops such as watermelon and cotton, and tea gardens to control various aphids, cotton bollworms, pink bollworms, tea loopers, tea caterpillars, tea green leafhoppers, fruit borers, citrus leafminers, cabbage worms, cabbage armyworms, etc. It can also be used to control various underground pests such as leek maggots, garlic maggots, white grubs, wireworms, cutworms, mole crickets, and can also control mites.

(2) The insecticide is relatively fast and safe. Bifenthrin mainly acts as a contact killer and stomach poison. Compared with other pyrethroids, it has higher insecticidal activity. After spraying the solution, insects begin to die within 1 hour and reach the peak of death within 4 hours, which can quickly kill pests. At the same time, bifenthrin does not move in the soil, which is safe for the environment and is not prone to pesticide damage due to factors such as temperature and improper spraying concentration.

(3) It can kill insects and mites at the same time, and the lasting effect is long. The lasting effect of bifenthrin can be up to about 10-15 days. It should be noted that since the effect of controlling mites is unstable and it is easy to develop drug resistance, it is not recommended to use it as a dedicated miticide.

3. Usage and precautions

(1) Bifenthrin is not systemic and cannot quickly penetrate into all parts of crops. It is recommended that the spraying be done evenly. For borer pests, the pesticide should be applied before the larvae bore into the crops. In order to prevent pests from developing resistance to the pesticide, bifenthrin is generally used with other pesticides with better systemic properties, such as thiamethoxam and imidacloprid, to achieve better insecticide effects. At the same time, bifenthrin is not effective in controlling whiteflies on vegetables. It is recommended to use it in combination with other insecticides for better results.

(2) With the increase in the time and frequency of use, many areas have experienced resistance problems to varying degrees. When using, in order to achieve better insecticide effects, you can choose the corresponding compound pesticide or mix it according to the specific pest situation. While improving the control effect, alternating with other pesticides of different categories can also delay the development of drug resistance. The most common ones are mainly compound or mixed with bifenthrin and thiamethoxam, cypermethrin, thiamethoxam, clothianidin, dinotefuran, imidacloprid, acetamiprid, difflubenzuron, dithiamethoxam, hexathiacyclon, etc.

(3) Bifenthrin is toxic to aquatic organisms such as bees and fish, and silkworms. When applying the pesticide, avoid bee colonies, flowering nectar crops, silkworm rooms and mulberry gardens. It is strictly forbidden to dump the pesticide or the wastewater from washing the sprayer after use into ponds, lakes, rivers and other water sources to avoid harming aquatic fish. It is more effective at low temperatures, so it is recommended to use this drug in spring and autumn.
