How does Flonicamid work?

Flonicamid is a novel pyridinecarboxamide insecticide. In addition to contact and stomach toxicity, it also exhibits strong neurotoxic activity, excellent penetration, and rapid feeding inhibition. It can be quickly absorbed by plant roots and translocated to stems and leaves, providing effective systemic control. After pests ingest the product, their sap-feeding activity is rapidly interrupted, causing them to stop feeding almost immediately. The piercing-sucking mouthparts of aphids and other sucking pests become unable to penetrate plant tissues, ultimately leading to their death.

Furthermore, Flonicamid shows no cross-resistance with commonly used insecticides such as Imidacloprid, Acetamiprid, and Pymetrozine, making it highly effective in controlling resistant sucking pests.

Flonicamid Applicable Crops

Flonicamid can be used on a wide range of crops, including apple, pear, peach, plum, strawberry, cucumber, melon, watermelon, gourd, cabbage, tomato, eggplant, pepper, potato, mustard, spinach, lettuce, beans, celery, wheat, maize (corn), cotton, citrus, sunflower, tea, and ornamental plants. It is suitable for the control of sucking pests in various agricultural and horticultural crops.

Flonicamid Target Pests

Flonicamid is primarily used to control a wide range of sucking pests, including aphids, greenhouse whiteflies, tobacco whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci), tea green leafhoppers, brown planthoppers, and various species of thrips. It provides excellent control of piercing-sucking insects across many crops.

Directions for Use

Thrips Control

Apply at the early nymph stage of thrips infestation, preferably after 4:00 PM. Use 105–120 g/ha of 50% Flonicamid + Acetamiprid Water-Dispersible Granules (WDG) diluted in 450 L of water per hectare and spray evenly. This treatment can rapidly suppress the spread of thrips populations.

Control of Thrips and Pear Psylla

Apply at the early nymph stage of pest development, preferably after 4:00 PM. Use 150–225 g/ha of 20% Flonicamid + Lambda-Cyhalothrin Microencapsulated Suspension (CS) diluted in 300 L of water per hectare and spray thoroughly. This application provides rapid control and helps prevent further pest spread.

Precautions

1.Use the product with secondary dilution (pre-mixing) before final dilution and application.

2.Apply during the early peak infestation period of the target pests.

3.Under climatic conditions favorable for pest outbreaks, increase the application rate appropriately and shorten the spray interval as needed.

4.Avoid application under high-temperature conditions.
