How is thiamethoxam used?

Pests such as whiteflies, aphids, and thrips, despite their small size, are difficult to eradicate completely due to their fast reproduction speed, long migration distance, and strong resistance to pesticides. It has become the most important pest on tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, cowpeas and other vegetables. Traditional spraying control is not only time-consuming and labor-intensive, the duration of effect is short, and the control effect is not ideal. How can we effectively control these sucking pests?

Hazard characteristics

Aphids, whiteflies, thrips, etc. are all sucking pests. Adults and nymphs gather in young parts of plants such as leaves and growing points to suck the sap from plants. Due to their large number, they can cause plant malnutrition in a short period of time, causing leaves to become thin and yellow, and fruits to stop developing. The large amounts of feces excreted by adults can also contaminate leaves and fruits, resulting in reduced photosynthesis and reduced yields. While sucking plant sap, these pests can also spread a variety of viruses and induce viral diseases, leading to more serious damage and even harvest failure.

Potion selection

There are many pesticides for controlling sucking pests such as aphids, whiteflies, and thrips, and most of them are based on spray control. Many tests have proven that using thiamethoxam to control sucking pests such as aphids, whiteflies, and thrips has the advantages of wide control range, good systemic properties, long duration of effect, low toxicity, and ease of use. It is an excellent insecticide for controlling sucking pests.

Thiamethoxam mainly acts on the central nervous system of pests, blocking nervous system transmission, causing paralysis and death of pests. Not only does it have contact, gastric, and systemic activities, but it also has higher activity, better safety, wider insecticidal spectrum, fast action, and long duration of effect.

Thiamethoxam can be widely used in various vegetables such as rice, wheat, corn, cotton, peanuts, soybeans, potatoes, cucumbers, watermelons, tomatoes, eggplants, as well as various fruit trees such as apples, pears, cherries, peach trees, citrus , kiwifruit, strawberries, chrysanthemums, platycodons, peonies, and other flowers and traditional Chinese medicine. It is used to control sucking pests, diptera, lepidoptera, coleoptera and other pests. It is the first choice to replace highly organophosphorus, carbamate and other pesticides.

Prevention and control methods

(1) Soil treatment: Cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, watermelons and other vegetables for seedling transplanting. Before seedling raising or during planting, 1-2 kg/acre of 2% thiamethoxam granules can be used, mixed with nutrient soil or fully decomposed organic fertilizer for hole application or broadcast application. Because thiamethoxam has good systemic conductivity, after being absorbed by the roots, the agent can be transferred to the upper part of the plant, killing aphids, whiteflies, tabaci, thrips and other pests that harm seedlings or plants. It can also control underground pests such as grubs, wireworms, cutworms, etc. It can last for about 3 to 6 months, greatly reducing the number of sprays.

(2) Drip irrigation control: Cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, watermelons and other vegetables. In the early and peak fruiting stages, 200 to 300 ml of 30% thiamethoxam suspension can be used per acre, combined with watering, and added with drip irrigation solution. It can also effectively prevent the harm of aphids, whiteflies, whiteflies, thrips and other sucking pests, and can also control underground pests such as grubs, wireworms and cutworms. The validity period can reach more than 15 days.

(3) Seed dressing treatment: In wheat, corn, peanuts, soybeans, garlic, potatoes and other crops. Before sowing, use 30% thiamethoxam suspended seed coating agent to dress the seeds at a drug-to-seed ratio of 1:400, and evenly wrap the seed coating agent on the planting surface. It can effectively prevent the harm of underground pests and various above-ground pests, and can also prevent the occurrence of viral diseases. The duration of effect can reach about 80 days.
