Beta-Cyfluthrin has strong contact and stomach action, as well as certain ovicidal and adult repellent effects. It also exhibits good quick-acting properties. When formulated as granules for root or soil treatment, it is not easily leached. However, it lacks systemic action and penetrating ability.
It is a neurotoxin that affects or impedes axonal conduction in the peripheral nervous system of insects. It also increases the permeability of sodium channels during electron transfer, generating repetitive action potentials and producing neurotoxins. This continuously causes excitation, paralysis, convulsions, and ultimately death in insects.
Beta-Cyfluthrin formulations are low-toxicity insecticides. They are highly toxic to fish, aquatic organisms, honeybees, and silkworms, but degrade readily in soil.
Beta-Cyfluthrin can control a variety of pests:
Lepidopteran larvae: cotton bollworm, diamondback moth, cabbage white butterfly, beet armyworm, leaf roller, fruit borer, fruit tree leaf miner, tea geometrid, snout moths, etc.
Coleopteran larvae: grubs (white grubs), leaf beetles, longhorn beetles, weevils, maize weevil (stored grain pest), etc.
Homopteran pests: aphids, leafhoppers, etc.
Dipteran pests: fruit flies (Bactrocera, melon fly), etc.
Hygiene pests: mosquitoes, termites, flies, cockroaches, etc.
Mites: shows good inhibitory or lethal effects against some spider mites.
Note: Due to long-term or high-dose use, pyrethroid insecticides like this one can lead to significant resistance. Using a single agent alone often fails to achieve good control. It is best used in combination with other pesticides or as ready-mixed formulations, such as with neonicotinoids (having strong systemic activity), long-acting antibiotics, highly penetrative organophosphates, or benzoylureas (with strong ovicidal activity).
