The innovative compound that won the Patent Gold Award of the Year——Quinadone

Quinadone is a new triketone 4-HPPD herbicide containing a quinazolinedione structure. By inhibiting the conversion of p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate into homogentisate in plants, it affects photosynthesis in weeds, causing weeds to develop symptoms of albino and die. For the first time, quinadone has realized the application of HPPD inhibitor herbicides in sorghum fields to control monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous weeds, solving the technical problems of preventing and controlling malignant weeds in sorghum fields such as wild millet and tigertail grass. Quinadone has the advantages of high efficiency, low toxicity, environmental friendliness and safety for subsequent crops. It can promote the substitution of highly toxic pesticides and is beneficial to environmental protection.

At the same time, quinadone is the world's first commercialized quinazolinedione pesticide variety. It is highly safe for sorghum and has the characteristics of high efficiency, broad herbicidal spectrum, low toxicity and low residue. It has special effects on major and malignant weeds in sorghum fields such as wild millet and tigertail grass. It has solved the technical problem of "super weeds" in sorghum fields that cannot be cured.

Mechanism and characteristics of action

Quinadone belongs to the HPPD class of herbicides, which has an efficient and rapid effect on weeds and is not easy to develop resistance. 4-Hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) inhibitor inhibits the conversion of hydroxyphenylpyruvate into homogentisate. Hominic acid is an important substance in plants. It can be further deacidified, polyprenylated and alkylated to generate plastoquinone and tocopherol required for electron transfer in photosynthesis. HPPD inhibitors function as photosynthetic electron transport inhibitors. When the process of converting p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate into homogentisate is inhibited, the synthesis of plastoquinone and tocopherol will be blocked. Plastoquinone is also a key cofactor for phytoene desaturase. The reduction of plastoquinone blocks the catalytic effect of phytoene desaturase, which in turn affects the biosynthesis of carotenoids and ultimately leads to plant death.

Features

HPPD inhibitor with novel framework (quinazolinone), Ki,AtHPPD= 24.10nM;

It has a broad herbicidal spectrum and shows herbicidal activity against a variety of broadleaf weeds and grassy weeds, especially excellent control effects against setaria and wild millet;

It has good quick-acting effect and is safe for sorghum; it is also safe for corn, wheat and sugarcane;

Excellent toxicological properties and environmental compatibility.

Sorghum is the fifth largest cereal crop in the world, after corn, wheat, rice and barley. But around the world, sorghum cultivation faces a very serious problem - weeds. This greatly limits the mechanization of sorghum planting and the further expansion of planting area. Quinadone is absolutely safe for sorghum and is active against almost all weeds in sorghum fields. It is an effective means to deal with weeds in sorghum fields.

market expectation

Quinadone is highly efficient and broad-spectrum, showing high-efficiency herbicidal activity against a variety of broadleaf weeds and grassy weeds, especially excellent control effects against foxtail grass and wild millet. It has good quick-acting effect and is highly safe for sorghum; it is also safe for corn, wheat and sugar cane; and it has excellent toxicological properties and environmental compatibility. The launch of quinadone will solve the technical problems of weed control in sorghum fields throughout the growth period. Reduce the application of herbicide once and reduce the dosage of herbicide active ingredients by more than 50%, providing key technical support for the high-quality development of the sorghum industry and other related industries.
