What are the applications of the herbicide fomesafen?

English name: Fomesafen
Chemical name: 5-[2-Chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-N-(methylsulfonyl)-2-nitrobenzamide
CAS registration number: 72178-02-0
Molecular formula: C15H10ClF3N2O6S

Structural formula:

74300073770965484965

Mechanism of Action

Fomesafen belongs to the protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) inhibitor class of selective herbicides. It is absorbed through stems, leaves and roots, destroying the photosynthesis of weeds, causing yellowing of weed leaves or burning spots, and finally Wither and die.

Features

1. Mainly used to control broad-leaved weeds.
2. After soybean seedlings, it can be mixed with fluazifop-p-p, fenoxyfop-p-p, quizalofop-p-p, clethodim, clomazone, bentazone, glyphosate, fenoxaprop-p-p , imazamox, etc. mixed.
3. Rain 4-6 hours after spraying will not affect the weeding effect. The residual effect period in the soil is longer.
4. It is not recommended to use high doses, which may cause drug injury. Adding artificially synthesized non-ionic surfactants and mineral oil additives such as azone, silicone, etc. to the liquid medicine will increase the harm of the medicine.
5. It can be used when interplanting soybeans in corn fields, but not when soybeans are intercropped with other sensitive crops.

Effect of fomesafen on soybean

Soybean is one of the most important food crops in the world, and weed control is one of the important tasks in soybean cultivation management. There are many kinds of weeds in soybean fields. As a herbicide for broad-leaved weeds in soybean fields, fomesafen can control velvetleaf, ghost needle grass, iron amaranth, thorn amaranthus, ragweed, Brassica, field bindweed, shepherd's purse, Cassia, Chenopodium, Artemisia, Echinacea, Polygonum spinosa, Polygonum spinosa, Commelina, Datura, Capsicum, Split-leaf morning glory, Corngrass, Purslane, Prickly thorn, Wild mustard, A variety of annual and perennial broad-leaved weeds, such as cattail, physalis, cocklebur, nightshade, etc., have a wide weeding spectrum. Used at the recommended dose, fomesafen can kill weeds by being absorbed by the stems, leaves and roots of weeds, helping to solve the problem of weeds inundation in soybean fields.
