What is the work of abamectin?

Abamectin is a familiar insecticide product. It can not only control insects, mites, and nematodes at the same time, but also has the characteristics of wide application and good mixing. This has made it popular since it was launched on the market. However, as the years of use increase, the resistance problem has become more and more serious. People begin to think that it is not so easy to use. Today we will talk about abamectin and its common mixing schemes.

1. About Abamectin

The mechanism of action of Abamectin is to interfere with the signal transmission of the pest's nervous system. It mainly acts as a stomach poison and contact poison. After the pest is poisoned, it will become paralyzed, have reduced activity, and refuse to eat within a few hours. Eventually, the pest will die due to inability to eat or breathe. Generally, the peak of dead insects will appear in 2-4 days.

Abamectin application

2. Product features

(1) Broad insecticide spectrum. Abamectin can be used for food crops such as rice, wheat, and corn, vegetables such as oranges, and fruit trees such as citrus and cotton, as well as flowers, gardens, and ornamental plants. It can be used in a variety of ways, such as spraying, root irrigation, broadcasting (granules), and seed treatment (seed dressing agent). It can be used to control pests such as aphids, thrips, diamondback moths, cabbage worms, leaf rollers, borers, leafminers, and mites such as two-spotted spider mites, tea orange spider mites, and hawthorn spider mites, as well as underground nematodes, but abamectin has no effect on killing insect eggs.

(2) Good compatibility. Abamectin can be mixed with a variety of insecticide products, such as emamectin benzoate, high-efficiency chlorflucythrinate, bifenthrin, chlorantraniliprole, imidacloprid, etoxazole, spirodiclofen, Bacillus thuringiensis, thiamethoxam, chlorpyrifos, etc. At the same time, there are many mixed products on the market, such as abamectin·chlorantraniliprole, abamectin·indoxacarb, abamectin·carbazine, abamectin·imidacloprid, abamectin·etoxazole, abamectin·spirodiclofen, abamectin·thiamethoxam, abamectin·Paecilomyces lilacinus, etc. By mixing or compounding, it can not only slow down the resistance of pests and improve the rapidity of insecticide, but also achieve better control effects.

(3) No systemic absorption. Abamectin is mainly gastric toxic, and has a certain contact toxicity. It is permeable, but not systemic. Therefore, when using it, it should be sprayed as evenly as possible, and it is best to spray all parts of the crop. For crops with a thick wax layer on the surface of stems and leaves, it is best to add adjuvants to improve its adhesion and permeability. When pests bore into the stems or fruits of crops, the effect of using abamectin alone is often not ideal. It is best to mix it with a systemic insecticide.

3. Common compounding schemes

(1) Control of lepidopteran pests. Abamectin is used to control lepidopteran pests such as cotton bollworm, diamondback moth, beet armyworm, cutworm, corn borer, etc. You can choose abamectin + emamectin benzoate, abamectin + cypermethrin, abamectin + chlorfenapyr, abamectin + chlorpyrifos, abamectin + indoxacarb, abamectin + hexaflumuron, abamectin + insecticide, etc.

(2) Control of small insects such as aphids and thrips. When abamectin is used to control aphids, whiteflies, thrips, tea green leafhoppers, rice planthoppers and other homoptera, diptera, coleoptera and other pests, you can choose abamectin + acetamiprid, abamectin + imidacloprid, abamectin + dinotefuran, abamectin + thiamethoxam, etc.

(3) Control of mites. When abamectin is used to control mites such as red spiders, it can be used alone, or abamectin + spirodiclofen, abamectin + etoxazole, abamectin + bifenazate, abamectin + tetraclofenac, abamectin + pyridamoxazine, etc.

(4) Control of root-knot nematodes. When abamectin is used to control root-knot nematodes, it can be irrigated to the roots or directly applied as granules. When used for prevention, 0.5% or 1% abamectin granules can be applied in the field in combination with land preparation; in plots where nematodes are seriously infested, abamectin can be mixed with thiazophos, Paecilomyces lilacinus, etc., or it can be diluted with 1.8%, 5% or other content abamectin emulsifiable concentrate and then irrigated.

Precautions

(1) Resistance. As the service life and dosage of abamectin increase, its resistance problem becomes more and more serious. Therefore, when using it, it is best to mix it with other insecticide products or choose mixed products, and alternate with other different types of insecticide products to avoid multiple consecutive uses of a single dose.

(2) It is easy to decompose when exposed to light. Abamectin will decompose within 4-6 hours in a strong light and oxygen environment. Therefore, it must be stored away from light and sealed. When using it, try to avoid applying the pesticide under strong light at noon on sunny days.

(3) Abamectin is toxic to silkworms, bees, fish, etc., so be sure to pay attention to safety when using it.
