Fipronil has a broad insecticidal spectrum, exhibiting contact, stomach poison, and moderate systemic action. It can control both underground and above-ground pests. It has high insecticidal activity against important pests such as aphids, leafhoppers, planthoppers, lepidopteran larvae, flies, and coleopterans, and is non-toxic to crops. However, it is highly toxic to aquatic organisms, silkworms, and bees.
Fipronil can be used for foliar application, soil treatment, and seed treatment.
Follicular application of 25-50 g of active ingredient per hectare is effective in controlling potato leaf beetles, diamondback moths, pink diamondback moths, Mexican boll weevils, and flower thrips.
In rice paddies, 50-100 g of active ingredient per hectare is effective in controlling stem borers and brown planthoppers.
Follicular application of 6-15 g of active ingredient per hectare is effective in controlling steppe locusts and desert locusts.
Applying 100-150g of active ingredient per hectare to the soil can effectively control corn root leaf beetles, wireworms, and cutworms.
Treating corn seeds with 250-650g of active ingredient per 100kg of seeds can effectively control corn wireworms and cutworms.
