The European Commission proposed the Sustainable Use of Pesticides Regulations in June this year, with a plan to reduce the use of chemical compounds by 50% by 2030.
But an impact assessment noted that implementation of the regulation appeared to reduce production. Recently, the European Union decided to delay the implementation of the plan to halve the use of pesticides due to concerns that the plan to halve the use of pesticides may reduce grain production and increase the cost of basic commodities within the EU.
