Indoxacarb May Be Deregistered in The UK

Recently, the UK Health and Safety Authority (HSE) has reviewed the approval process for the active substance indoxacarb and proposed deregistration.

The registration of indoxacarb has been assessed by the HSE on the basis of new scientific information indicating that the active substance may no longer meet the registration criteria.

This review covers the impact of the new toxicological reference value for indoxacarb on risk assessment, as well as comments from manufacturers and license holders.

The study found that non-dietary exposures for various representative uses exceeded acceptable limits for operators, workers, residents and passersby. Therefore, the HSE recommends that the registration of indoxacarb in the United Kingdom (GB) be withdrawn.

The specifics of the proposal will be submitted to the World Trade Organization (WTO) for comments from trading partners.

Further information and progress on the registration of indoxacarb will be recorded in the Statutory Approval Register for Active Substances.
