India Announces: Fertilizer Prices Will Be Banned This Winter!

India will ban fertilizer companies from raising fertilizer prices this winter.

Recently, India's Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya (Mansukh Mandaviya) said at the International Dairy Summit that there is no fertilizer shortage problem in India, and companies will not be allowed to increase fertilizer prices this winter. Planting of winter crops in India generally begins in November, with wheat, mustard and barley being the main winter crops. Mandavia also said that the government will soon announce winter potash and DAP subsidies.

India is a country with a large population and a large agricultural country, but it lacks resources such as phosphorus and nitrogen, and cannot meet the domestic demand for planting and production. Although nitrogen fertilizer can achieve a self-sufficiency rate of 80%, due to the lack of phosphorus and potassium resources, more than 70% of phosphorus fertilizers rely on imports, and potassium fertilizers are almost completely dependent on imports.

India announces

Data shows that India needs to import about 30 million tons of fertilizers from the international market every year, of which 7.208 million tons of urea and 7 million tons of ammonium hydrogen phosphate (DAP) are imported. Once the international market cannot meet this import volume, it will inevitably lead to a reduction in grain production in India. In previous years, India needs to import at least 3.6 million tons of fertilizers from my country. This year, the total amount of imported fertilizers has increased significantly. Because India's arable land needs fertilizer.
