N6-(2-Isopentenyl)adenine mainly promotes plant cell division, chlorophyll formation and stress resistance by regulating protein synthesis, enzyme activity and cell metabolic balance, and can generally increase crop yields by 12%-14%.

N6-(2-Isopentenyl)adenine (2iP) is a bacterially derived riboside cytokinin used for growth in plant tissues such as tobacco and soybean crusting. 2iP is a precursor to the chemically derived zeatin cytokinin. 2iP has been used in Schenk and Hildebrandt media to support in vitro propagation of shoot tips of broom plants grown in vitro.

N6-(2-Isopentenyl)adenine (2iP), also known as hydroxyene adenine or ene adenine, is a plant growth regulator produced by submerged fermentation of streptomycin. It can be used on crops such as rice, wheat, soybean, citrus, watermelon, and corn.
