How to remedy the fertilizer damage to strawberries?

As an economic crop that continuously blooms and bears fruit, strawberry planting can bring huge economic benefits to fruit lovers. However, strawberries are delicate and it is not easy to grow good strawberries. There must be no slack in every step such as seedling raising, orange planting, watering, fertilizing, and weeding. Among them, one of the most important key points is fertilization. If the fertilization is done well, the strawberry fruit yield will be the highest; if the fertilization is not done well, the manpower and material resources of fruit lovers may be wasted.

Characteristics of strawberry fertilizer requirements:

Strawberries have shallow root systems, strong fertilizer requirements, large nutrient requirements, and are very sensitive to nutrients. Excessive or insufficient fertilization will have adverse effects on growth, development, yield, and quality.

1. Nitrogen fertilizer can promote the formation of a large number of leaves and stolons, strengthen vegetative growth, increase fruit size, and increase yield; nitrogen-deficient leaves will turn yellow, partially scorched, and slightly smaller than normal leaves.

2. Phosphorus fertilizer can promote the differentiation of flower buds and increase the fruit setting rate; the appearance of upper leaves due to phosphorus deficiency will appear purple-red spots, and the flowers and fruits will be smaller.

3. Potassium fertilizer mainly promotes fruit ripening, increases fruit sugar content, and improves fruit quality; potassium-deficient leaves often appear black, brown, and dry on the edges, and in severe cases, become burnt. Old leaves are severely damaged, and the fruit is light in color and tastes bad. In addition, strawberries are very sensitive to chlorine, so the use of chlorine-containing fertilizers should be controlled.

There are three main reasons why hydrogen burning leaves are prone to fertilizer damage after film coating:

1. Apply unripe chicken manure, oil cake and other organic fertilizers. Under the action of high humidity and high temperature in the shed, it can quickly ferment to produce xenon gas that will harm the strawberries, or the fermentation will produce high temperatures that will cause strawberry roots to burn and die. Even if fully decomposed organic fertilizer is used, it can cause fertilizer damage to strawberries because it is used excessively and is concentrated near the root system of strawberries.

2. Soon after planting, when the newly planted strawberry seedlings are slow to survive, excessive amounts of inorganic fertilizers are applied immediately, which can cause fertilizer damage to the strawberries.

3. Using too much chemical fertilizer at too high a concentration, or applying it concentratedly near the roots without exposing the mulch, can cause root and air fertilizer damage. When spraying on foliage, higher fertilizer concentrations may also cause fertilizer damage. Water fertilizers and foliar fertilizers that come into direct contact with orange plants are most likely to cause fertilizer damage, so you must be particularly careful.

How to avoid fertilizer damage after transplanting?

1. Control the amount of base fertilizer and top dressing. Do not use too much fertilizer at one time, especially chemical fertilizers, nitrogen fertilizers, livestock and poultry manure and other organic fertilizers. They must be fully decomposed before use. The use of base fertilizer should be completed 15 to 20 days before transplanting. Plant after heavy rain or after irrigation.

2. If top dressing is required for covering with mulch, it needs to be done 7 to 10 days before covering with mulch.

3. Spray foliar fertilizer directly on cloudy or sunny days in the evening. If the amount of hair is cut at noon, fertilizer damage is likely to occur.

4. It is more suitable to apply thin water and fertilizer once every 15 to 20 days.

How to repair obesity after it occurs?

1. Strengthen soil filling water management, use appropriate drip irrigation to replenish water, small amounts and multiple times, to restore a good soil environment, so that the root system can grow normally and new roots can be formed early.

2. Spray rutin lactone regulator to promote the rapid recovery of injured plants.

3. If you encounter fertilizer damage before covering, you can postpone the greenhouse and ground covering time as much as possible, and use rainwater or irrigation to flush the soil when it rains to reduce the salt concentration and mitigate the damage.

4. If you smell a strong ammonia smell after covering with film, you can remove the film depending on the severity to eliminate ammonia and other harmful gases between the plant rows and ventilate them in time.

5. After the seedlings have slowed down, you can properly spray some humus-based rooting fertilizer to maintain the root system. Do not apply chemical fertilizers in the near future.

All in all, during the growth period of strawberries, attention should be paid to appropriate and reasonable fertilization, and the principle of "fertilize frequently and lightly, eat less and eat more" should be implemented. In particular, avoid excessive application of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers at one time. It is usually necessary to keep the soil moist after fertilization.
