How to Use Triacontanol and Naphthalene Acetic Acid in Sweet Potato Planting

In the production of sweet potato, potato seedlings are generally used for cutting, and the treatment with plant growth regulators before cutting can promote rooting, shorten the slow seedling period, and improve the survival rate of potato seedlings. The main plant growth regulators that promote rooting are triacontanol and naphthalene acetic acid.

 

Triacontanol: Before cutting potato seedlings, soak the base of potato seedlings with 0.5 mg/L triacontanol for about half an hour, which can promote the rooting of cuttings, shorten the slow seedling period and improve the survival rate.

The concentration should be strictly controlled during application, and nutrient fertilizers such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be added. In production and application, take 0.1% triacontanol soluble milk powder and dilute it 2000 times with water to obtain a 0.5 mg/L triacontanol solution, soak the base of potato seedlings for about half an hour, which can promote cutting rooting.

 

Naphthalene acetic acid: Before sweet potato seedlings are cut, soak one end of the potato seedlings with 10 mg/L naphthalene acetic acid solution, which can promote the rooting of the cuttings, shorten the slow seedling period, and improve the survival rate. Naphthalene acetic acid is highly water-soluble, and 98% naphthalene acetic acid original drug can be selected for the treatment of potato seedlings. When using, dilute the naphthalene acetic acid to obtain a 10 mg/L naphthalene acetic acid solution, soak the potato seedlings with the prepared naphthalene acetic acid solution and cut one end.

 

Both triacontanol and naphthalene acetic acid can promote rooting of potato seedlings, shorten the slow seedling period, and improve the survival rate of potato seedlings. So growers who grow sweet potatoes may wish to give it a try!
