What are the effects of indolebutyric acid?

Basic information

Other names: 3-indolebutyric acid, indolylbutyric acid, IBA

Main dosage forms: 1.05% aqueous solution, 2%, 50% soluble powder, 0.075% water dispersible granules, 1%, 10% wettable powder.

 

Action characteristics

Indolebutyric acid is a plant endogenous auxin regulator that can promote cell division, elongation and expansion, induce adventitious root formation, increase fruit setting rate, prevent fruit drop, change the ratio of male and female flowers, etc.;

After use, it can be absorbed by various tissues and organs of the plant, but it is not easy to conduct in the plant body. In production, it is mainly used in the form of immersion to promote rooting of cuttings or regulate nutritional growth of plants;

Low concentrations of indolebutyric acid can synergize with gibberellins and kinetin to promote plant growth and development, while high concentrations induce the production of endogenous ethylene and promote the maturation and aging of plant tissues or organs.

 

Target of control

For fruit setting or parthenocarpy of tomato, pepper, eggplant, strawberry and other solanaceous crops and apple, citrus, pear, peach and other woody fruit trees.

 

How to use

(1) For tomato, pepper, cucumber, eggplant, strawberry and other solanaceous crops, use 250mg/L solution to immerse or spray the flowers and fruits to promote parthenocarpy and increase the fruit setting rate.

(2) When cutting tea, mulberry, pine, juniper and other plants, use 50~200mg/L solution to treat stem cuttings to promote rooting.

(3) For apple, peach, kiwi and other fruit trees, use 200~1000mg/L solution to treat, which can promote rooting of cuttings and improve survival rate.

(4) For rice, ginseng and low seedlings, use 10~80mg/L solution to sprinkle the soil, which can promote early rooting and well-developed root system after transplanting.
(5) Soaking grape branches in 5~20mg/L solution for 24h can promote rooting and improve the survival rate of cuttings.

 

Precautions

(1) Indolebutyric acid is easily decomposed by light and needs to be stored in a cool and dry place away from light. It is best to prepare it for use in production and not to store it for a long time.

(2) If indolebutyric acid is mixed with other plant growth regulators with rooting effect, it can effectively enhance the rooting effect, but it is forbidden to mix it with strong oxidants and alkaline substances.

(3) When treating plant cuttings in production, care should be taken to avoid contact between the young leaves and heart leaves of the cuttings with the solution, otherwise it is easy to cause drug damage.

(4) When using indolebutyric acid, strictly control the concentration of use. Figs are sensitive to indolebutyric acid. 0.6mg/L indolebutyric acid solution can cause drug damage to figs. Be prepared when using it.

(5) Under the same conditions, the treatment method of using high-concentration indolebutyric acid for quick dipping is more effective than long-term soaking in low-concentration solution.
