Fipronil features high activity, long residual efficacy, a broad insecticidal spectrum, and high crop safety. It provides excellent control against pests from Hemiptera, Homoptera, Diptera, Orthoptera, Lepidoptera, Thysanoptera, and Coleoptera. At the same time, it also shows inhibitory effects against certain pathogens such as Pythium spp. and bacterial leaf blight pathogens, while also promoting plant growth.
Fipronil acts by binding to GABA receptors on the nerve cell membranes of target insects, blocking chloride ion channels in nerve cells, thereby disrupting the normal function of the central nervous system and causing insect poisoning. It exhibits high insecticidal activity against aphids, leafhoppers, planthoppers, lepidopteran larvae, flies, and coleopteran pests. It can be applied to soil or used as a foliar spray. In indoor applications, it is commonly used to control cockroaches, ants, fleas, and ticks on pets. It shows no cross-resistance with existing insecticides and remains effective against pests resistant or susceptible to organophosphates, organochlorines, carbamates, and pyrethroids.
Fipronil has a broad insecticidal spectrum with contact, stomach poisoning, and moderate systemic activity. It can control both underground and aboveground pests. It is suitable for stem and leaf treatment, soil treatment, and seed treatment.
