Buprofezin is a thiadiazine insect growth regulator and a low-toxic biomimetic insecticide. Its mechanism of action is to inhibit the chitin synthesis of insects and interfere with their metabolism, causing larvae to become deformed during molting and then slowly die, or die due to inability to grow and develop normally. Usually, significant effects can be observed within 3 to 7 days after use.
Buprofezin has a wide range of applications, covering a variety of crops such as vegetables, rice, potatoes, citrus, cotton, fruit trees and tea trees. It has significant persistent larvicidal activity against pests such as Coleoptera, Hemiptera and Acarina. Specifically, the agent can effectively control cicadidae and planthopper pests on rice, cicadidae pests on potatoes, and whitefly pests on citrus, cotton and vegetables. In addition, thiamethoxam also showed good control effects on Coccoidea, Coccidae and Mealycosidae pests on citrus. In general, thiamethoxam has excellent control effects on Hemiptera planthoppers, leafhoppers, whiteflies and scale insect pests, and the drug effect lasts for a long time.
