World Agrochemical Network Chinese website report: Cobert revealed to AgroPages World Agrochemical Network that the company introduced its biological preparation development results at the recent Brazilian Biological Control Conference (Siconbiol 2023). During the event, researchers and company employees presented the biopesticides Terranem, Octane and Caravan.
Terranem is a biopesticide containing the entomopathogenic nematode (Sphenophorus levis) for the control of the sugarcane weevil (Sphenophorus levis). Terranem is formulated with state-of-the-art technology to create ideal conditions for the nematodes to function while offering excellent field applicability. Marcelino Borges de Brito, Manager of Agronomy Development at Colbert Brazil, said that this is an innovative product in Brazilian agriculture. Because the ingredients of Terranem are beneficial nematodes, it can effectively control the main pests of sugarcane fields in an environmentally friendly and effective manner, and is harmless to crops; research It has been shown that the product is very effective when applied, and can significantly reduce the number of pests, thereby reducing the proportion of sugarcane stalks infested by insects. It is an excellent product for controlling such pests that cause serious damage to sugarcane.
The biopesticide Octane is used to control corn leafhoppers. Since it can infect new-generation and invasive pests, the product has a longer persistence period and good residual effect in the field, and the pests will not develop resistance. According to Brito, the product controls 85% of leafhoppers and is effective against both adults and larvae.
Caravan (with Bacillus pumilus) for the control of foliar fungal diseases. According to Colbert, the product can inhibit the germination of pathogen spores and prevent plant infection and disease. In addition, Caravan can release metabolites of various beneficial bacteria to induce plants to enhance resistance to major foliar diseases. This product aids in resistance management and improves grower profitability.
Siconbiol is organized every two years by the Brazilian Entomological Society (SEB) and is considered the largest event of its kind in Latin America. During the event, participants had the opportunity to exchange information with various professionals working in the biological control of pests and diseases in Brazil and other parts of the world, and the latest developments in the field of biological control were the focus of discussions.
