Recently, Syngenta launched the selective herbicide ELUMIS during the 2023 Argentina Weed Congress, which is compounded of the active ingredients mesotrione and nicosulfuron. It can control broadleaf weeds and grass weeds, and has stronger control ability on rapidly propagating weeds. It is used for post-emergence corn crops.

Syngenta stated that the application targets of ELUMIS include Amaranthus spp weeds that currently affect 87% of Argentina's agricultural area, and Eleusine indica and Sorghum halepense that invade 40% of the country's cultivated land. In addition, Syngenta recommends using ELUMIS in combination with GESAPRIM (atrazine) to maximize control effectiveness while reducing the development of resistance.
Syngenta's herbicide manager for South America says weed species in Argentina are becoming increasingly complex. There are other problems in the United States. One of the main concerns this year and in the next few years is grassy weeds. Compared with only pigweed and liquorice in previous years, the types of grassy weeds are increasing year by year. Therefore, Syngenta's technical service team will help producers evaluate different situations and adopt different strategies for different plots.
