Corteva Launches Its First Bioinoculant With Unique Nitrogen-fixing Strain in Paraguay

Corteva launched its first nitrogen-fixing biologic UTRISHA N to the Paraguayan market at Agrodinámica 2023, Paraguay's largest agricultural exhibition.

According to Corteva, UTRISHA N is a solid biologic registered in Paraguay for use in corn and soybeans. The product is applied as a foliar application and allows plants to obtain nitrogen throughout their life cycle through a novel mode of action. UTRISHA N contains a unique strain of Methylobacterium symbioticum, which can enter the plant through the leaf stomata and completely colonize the plant within 7 days after application. This bacterium can convert nitrogen in the atmosphere into ammonium nitrogen for plants to use, enhancing plant vitality in a natural way, helping crops grow faster and maximize their production potential.

Another important advantage is that the nitrogen produced by UTRISHA N is less susceptible to traditional fertilization problems such as leaching (downward penetration of nitrogen), volatilization (loss of nutrients due to temperature) and denitrification (conversion of nitrogen into gaseous form due to bacterial action).

Daysi Bohn, who is responsible for regional market development in southern Paraguay, said: "Entering the biologics space is really challenging because it is a very important area to support chemical management. UTRISHA N contains bacteria for foliar application.
For soybeans, this is in the R1 phase, and for corn, this is in the V6 phase. A single dose is only 333 grams per hectare. UTRISHA N is a very effective biological nitrogen fixation option that diffuses into the environment. This is our main innovation this year and next year. "

Herbicide focus

Regarding agrochemical products, Bohn introduced the company's herbicide product portfolio. "We have the active ingredient Arylex in the formulations of the herbicides TEXARO (flupyridin + closulam) and PIXXAR (flupyridin + closulfonate), these two products are excellent options for growers in Paraguay to manage key weeds. "

In addition, Daysi also emphasized that VERDICT Ultra, which controls grassy weeds, is complementary to the company's many products that control major broadleaf and narrowleaf weeds. It is a unique herbicide containing a high concentration of flufenopopopop, which is easy to use and reduces product packaging.
